About Us
Neighbor Island Housing Program has been providing services to eligible participants since 1998. NIHP works with other agencies on the islands of Kauai and Big island to better serve the needs of our communities. We provide a full range of supportive services and provide housing information services to keep our clients aware, answer questions and provide referrals to other agencies and resources when the need arises. Upon entering our program a complete assessment is completed to ensure the participants needs are addressed and to evaluate the level of the participants needs.

We are a community based organization and pride ourselves in the advocacy of our participants. NIHP has made significant achievements in assisting participants with housing stability and health care accessibility. Our organization has dedicated, committed and hardworking staff helping to achieve these significant achievements. Our organization and stakeholders understand the major barriers in Hawaii that include low wages, limited incomes and the high cost of housing. It is the programs and organizations whole premise to help all our eligible participants become independent and able to maintain their housing costs on their own - over time. The NIHP program is meant as a temporary program to assist participants with rental subsides on a short term basis.
